Molub-Alloy 887 Detergent Oil Description Molub-Alloy 887 Detergent Oil was developed for use in non-flooded sliding vane rotary compressors but is also effectively used in circulating systems such as for paper machine dryer sections. Molub-Alloy 887 Detergent Oil is processed from specially selected naphthenic base oils of low carbon content and high flash point, combining specialized refining and manufacturing processes which effectively retard the formation of varnish and hard carbon deposits. These same properties will also retard formation of sludge in intercoolers and aftercoolers. Metallic solids of suitable grade are treated to increase their natural positive affinity to metal surfaces and are completely dispersed to assure effectiveness during the lubricant's full working life. Rust and oxidation inhibiting characteristics are maximized to afford effective rust protection and long life of the oil. Foaming is controlled by the use of special compounds and inhibitors Applications Molub-Alloy 887 Detergent Oil was developed for use in non-flooded sliding vane rotary compressors where problems from deposits have been experienced. It also provides outstanding service as a crankcase and cylinder lubricant in reciprocating compressors. Application methods of Molub-Alloy 887 Detergent Oil are by typical force feed lubricators as provided by the manufacturer for cylinder and bearing lubrication. Where compressed air discharge temperatures are below 163ºC, Molub-Alloy 887-40 is recommended. Advantages Reduced friction, most evident under boundary conditions, is directly attributed to the presence of specially compounded lubricating solids. This benefit is most pronounced where frequent start-up, slow speeds, and high and unexpected loads are encountered. Product DataSubstantial increase in the working life of both parts and lubricant is provided by a protective layer of Molub-Alloy solids. This can result in an increased load bearing area, which reduces unit pressures, operating temperatures and wear. Realistic energy savings are possible through a reduction in peak power demand during cold start-up. Molub-Alloy 887 contains an ashless detergent developed to retard the formation of varnish and carbon. The detergent in the oils prevents the vane slots from becoming fouled, and also keeps the compressor cylinder, check valve area, discharge line and aftercooler carbon and varnish free. Overall savings are derived from the above and result from less labour and downtime, smoother, more efficient operation with longer parts life, and extended lubrication cycles.
